E-Mail to the LA County Board of Ed The arrogance of the comments of your Public Relations rep has enraged the community. This new site is a HORRIBLE location. Our city is trying to clean up problems, and you are looking to import and expand on them! Ever try working with the locals? Based on the DISMAL record at your other site, it's apparent you couldn't care less about the impact of your facility on neighbors. We got a litany of hollow promises from your staff when the the other Palmdale site went it, and you folks simply walked away and let the hoodlems run rampant. Your current site generates MORE CRIME CALLS THAN ANY OTHER SINGLE SITE IN THE VALLEY, AND WOULD BE CONSIDERED A NUISCANCE, AND SCHEDULED FOR ABATEMENT, IF IT WERE PRIVATELY OWNED. I have asked the city attorney to investigate legal action and pursuing cost recovery for the services, as well as advising the neighbors to escalate their complaints to YOU instead of us, and pursue claims for reimbursement for grafitti and vandalism abatement measures. I am also making this a priority item for the League of Califonia Cities and the Contract Cities Association, where I sit on the legislative, contracts, and public safety committies. You are horrible neighbors. The community is up in arms over this site, and will not allow this to happen quietly. Steve Hofbauer |
