PALMDALE - Area businesses helped the civic action group Fact Finders donate to Lancaster and Palmdale powerful weapons in the war on graffiti. Fact Finders gave one $1,200 high-pressure "graffiti-blaster" washer to each of the cities at the organization's May 14 meeting in the Joshua Room of the Larry Chimbole Cultural Center,

"The water hits the wall at 4,000 (pounds per square inch)," said Larry Hobson, founder of the organization. "If you leave it in one spot it will cut a hole right through. If you do it right, it takes off the graffiti by removing paint on top of paint."

Lancaster accepted the gift of $4,000 worth of neutral-color paint from Dunn Edwards as well, Hobson said. Palmdale declined the offer, saying it had its own paint, he said.

In addition to Dunn Edwards and Hobson, donors included Realtor Terry Mannis of Coldwell Banker Bozigian, Ralph Tremonti, Omar Mandujano of Mandujano's Concrete and Block, Sadler & Sons Inc. cabinets, JAR Vinyl Fence & Decks; Morrison Well Maintenance; QHM Heating and Air; Style Tile; ADA Electric; Advanced Energy Insulation; True Color Painting and Jay Beswick.

Fact Finders conducts open meetings on "any type of a problem that affects the Antelope Valley, and how to solve it," Hobson said.
